Actually

... my blog title should be more like "Beer For My Wolfdog?" because I have no horses, not anymore. They're all gone now. My babies are all gone, all the tack, saddles, show tack, grooming supplies, leads, halters, everything, gone! This 97 acre horse ranch is lonely, so very lonely ... There's a reason for everything -- it's said -- although sometimes I simply can't fathom why.

The Funniest Thing I've Seen/Heard in YEARS!!

This is gonna kill you it's so hysterical.  I first saw it on HLN and I laughed until tears streamed down my face.  That doesn't often happen -- trust me -- like maybe once per year.  It's not gonna fit the page perfectly but believe me, it's worth the sloppy look!!

ENJOY!!

Just a Note ...

to say no, I've not fallen off the face of the earth! But I have been extremely busy, busier than usual this holiday season! But that's good for me.

This is for you, Sharmy! I know how you've missed the little darling!

Awwwwwww! Isn't he sweet??

Another thing -- I bought my parents this for Christmas:

However, I gave it to them early because I thought it would take us all two years to learn how to use it. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be too easy! Naturally, this required the purchase of a DVD-R as well so those two items alone were ooooh, pricey. Previously, I had a DVD-VCR but now w/ the new one I'll be able to do lots of different things! That is, if I actually learn how to use it.

It doesn't look very scary but it is!! This is what it says:
Panasonic Progressive-Scan Multiformat DVD-R/-RW/RAM/+R/+RW Recorder/VCR Combo
Use this DVD recorder combo to record your favorite shows onto DVD. Featuring VHS capabilities, a built-in 80GB hard drive and select SD/PC card compatibilities, this DVD recorder is versatile in its ability to store and record on a variety of different media.

Can someone explain that to me in English?? Kill me.

I have to go to the Big House now and wrap gifts. Tomorrow Precious goes to the groomer, Friday I see Cindi so I have to have gifts for those in her office as well as cookies ready to go for her, plus I'm delivering cookies and gifts tomorrow evening for friends and family. Mama helped me bake and decorate the cookies, while Da conveniently skipped out for a horse doin's. That's okay, he's already made up for it: Yesterday he bought us tickets for the Bud Lite PBR Championships!! Woo-hoo!! We went last year too and had a blast! You know -- Father/Daughter Fun.

Gotta run -- Sending my love to all!

Where My Down Coat?

It got soooo cold last night when I woke up this morning it looked like snow on the grass! Snow? In TN? In October? Never! But it did get freaky cold last night, and now it's returning to more normal temps. Yesterday the high was 53°, the low 33°and normally it's 75°and 50°. Today it'll be around 67°, tomorrow 73° w/ the sun shining brightly! This is normal weather in the south. It sucks. I'm stuck in the No Snow Zone. Life is so not fair, but I don't know what my horses would do if it snowed more than an inch down here and lasted only 30 minutes. I can tell you for a fact, my wolf hybrid doesn't know from snow at all -- she's only 2! I doubt she'll ever learn what it is down here, but I could be surprised. It wouldn't be the first time I fell over in shock ... as a result of various monentous events.

Speaking of which, check out this photo from MI w/ the caption:

"The many colors of fall...reds, golds, and white from snow."

Just check this out, a photo taken yesterday in Chippewa Falls, WI:

I ask you, how lucky is this guy? I loved living in Wisconsin, being right there at the lake front! Yup, we had plenty of lake-effect snow which was awesome -- until I had my first experience w/ thunder-snow. That scared the stuffin' outta me! Otherwise, I loved it, loved every minute I lived there as I recall. I guess because my entire childhood was spent in areas where we had real seasons, where the change in season was highly defined, I miss it all the more. I remember the snow coming down in big, fat flakes, how warm it was when it snowed and the quiet. It's so quiet when it snows! Except of course if you're near O'Hare International Airport where you can hear the birds but not see them. Eerie.

But it's not all bad in the south. So what if my daddy outgrew his tremendous allergies and passed them on to his only child? We had frost last night so the grass will no longer grow -- that goes for the new Bermuda sod in the pasture, by the way -- so that's the end of part of my sneezy problem. However, I'm surrounded by 97 acres of pine and cedar trees which never stop growing. *achoo* But, I do miss the autumn colors -- very little on the ranch, however I do get to enjoy them when I travel. I have a Chris Cagle concert coming up as well as Montgomery Gentry, and I have a few reservations in Tunica -- all comped of course. That would be a Good Thing.

Now this is a gorgeous photo, taken five days ago in Lincoln, NH:

Now it's apple season -- yummy, crunch, tart, sweet, crispy, tasty apples! Is your mouth watering? Remember, an apple a day keeps the doctor away! I don't know what the significance of that is but every time my mama goes to the market she brings me fruit including lots of apples and she often says that to me. I don't know what apples have to do w/ seeing a physician but there you go.

I make an apple crisp (the afore-mentioned recipe Samantha's Famous Apple Crisp which I got out of a cookbook but tweaked) that's to die for! Seriously, I've had people bring me apples just to make them this hot, buttery, cinnamon-y dessert! Mmmm ... this would be another Good Thing.

And back to the snow! Here's an image I'm familiar with:

Oh ... I sorta feel sorry for this guy:

Sucks to be in New York, dude -- they got two feet of snow! Woo-hoo!

And what would this be w/out photos of cats -- Cats Who Look Like Hitler, to be exact!
Disgruntled Hitler:

Where My Eyeballs Hitler:

Stop Exploiting Me Hitler:

And last but not least, Upon My Throne Hitler:

Anyone who is owned by a Furball is familiar w/ that pose! Oh, I love my Furballs ... Even more since we have the automatic litterbox! It rocks! Totally worth the money, no question!

Gotta run -- going to the market, etc.

Sharmy !!

Just for you ... Scenes we aren't often able to view.

Because I didn't know where else to put it, a gorgeous nighttime scene of the Chicago River:

The riotous colors of Autumn:

A stormy sunset in Madison, WI:

This is an actual, unretouched photo of a farm in Wisconsin:

Below, notice even though there are bright fall colors, it's snowing!

This has never happened to me. Sigh. Life is SO not fair!

I just put him in here, a rose-breasted cockatoo.

And this is Sophie, who is curious.

Of course I have to add these ...

From the Evil Cave of Paper, Newton worships all that is unholy.

Starlight hates you, but loves capitalism.

Reach out and touch someone, just not this beast.

The Welcoming Committee: Welcome to the neighborhood, now go back to the Ukraine, where you belong!

Aisha the Evil Alien Cat has landed her ship and is ready to conquer the world with her mutant glowing eye rage!

So...you dare to pester me while I sit on my queenly throne? You disgusting, inferior fleshy-things! Prostrate before me or I will be forced to use your face as a scratching post!

Would a post w/ Evil Cats be complete w/out your old buddy, Gerald Dong?? Nooooo ...

Gerald hates you for playing Lawrence Welk while he tries to tune in Radio Tokyo.

Yeah, you love me. You know you do!

Shine On, Shine On Harvest Moon ...

up in the sky ... Tonight in TN we'll enjoy a bright clear night, the better to enjoy this harvest moon! And hopefully the horses won't gaze longingly over the fenceline, drooling as they did last night, and be tempted like Adam to Eve's apple. We had men come in and work the pasture over about three weeks ago. First it was smoothed from all the deep, wide ruts, then grass seed was laid down and on top of that, 80 bales of staw. About a week after that, Bermuda sod was laid down in many areas -- a lot of sod! We watered, watered, watered, and the sod is beginning to take root!

It is now Sunday, three days later. The creepy horses made good use of that Harvest Moon and got into the pasture by knocking down the Texas gate that keeps them out, and they had a fine time munching on all that sod! We've put forth every effort to repair the damage, and now all we can do is sit and wait. Oh what a heartbreak that was!

My great friend Sharmy sent me this link:
FRIENDS
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! I thought it was precious.

Typically, the weather has been hot/cold. It's usually warm during the day but really cools off at night. I like to leave the window next to my bed open but I keep waking w/ a sore throat which totally sucks. Guess I'm gonna have to cut back on that because it's very UNfun! Having the windows open 24/7 is overrated for me at least because of the pollen. It's been so long since it rained around here everything is all stirred up, and I cough and sneeze nearly continually. I've actually awoken in the middle of the night by sneezing! I take Sudafed which helps, a little.

On Friday, one of our much-loved local news anchors and his wife were struck by a car while taking their daily walk at 6.30 AM. Tom Britt survived, but unfortunately his wife did not.
Police are still seeking information about the hit-and-run driver.
HIT-AND-RUN
Meanwhile, his physical condition is improving but it's a sad story.
TOM BRITT

Oh me. Michael Schumacher blew his engine in the Japanese Grand Prix, and so will not end his career w/ the Formula One points championship. Fernando Alonso won that race.
ALONSO IN HEAVEN, SCHUMACHER IN HELL
Kill me now.

But it's not all bad news today! I have something brand new to post -- Cats Who Look Like Hitler! Observe:

I'd yell too if my name were "Maggot" !!

And my very favorite -- this one's for you, Sharmy!
You know you love him, girly!! HAHAHA!!

I can't leave today w/out posting some freebies:
Sign up for emailed coupons!
ARBY'S
KFC
QUIZNO'S
and for a free appetizer,
TGIF
And finally, a free movie rental:
HOLLYWOOD VIDEO
I know Sharmy will use that one but we only have Blockbuster here so I won't. *pout*

That's it for now! Later --

I Dented Lovey *sob!*

I may as well get it out in the open: I did it, I dented my baby! I'm the only one who got upset, and I'm still upset but at least now I can sleep at night since I've decided what to do about it. She has 2700-something miles since her last service so very shortly I'll take her back in and get her repaired at that time. I won't be able to stand it unless I do, and $ is not an issue at this point. I don't care about the cost. This is how she did look:

But not now. A couple of days ago I came flying in -- I have a sweeping, circular driveway -- to park her in the shop where she sits right in front of Daddy's new Ranger. Well, I tapped the tip of the boat trailer, you know, where the ball fits on the hitch on the pickup and now Lovey has a dime-size dent in her front bumper -- not the black, but the red. Man, you talk about someone getting upset! Crap, I'm still very upset but I won't be long -- 200 miles more! At least her little butt still looks good!

I have opinions, lots of opinions and you don't have to agree w/ me! I don't mind in the least. I don't press my opinions but if asked, I'll voice them mildly and if someone becomes hostile about it I simply drop the subject, usually walking away. For example: John Mark Karr, who has confessed to "being with JonBenet the night she died." What the hell is up w/ that? Do you think he did it? I'm gonna just say he's a sicko (I'm being kind) especially if his ex who loathes him proves he wasn't even in Colorado when JonBenet was murdered. He's a pervert anyway! Sigh. I can't get into it, it makes my blood pressure skyrocket. I'd like to say he's not worth the cost of a 7mm Magnum shell but ... I'd pay a whole lot more than that to see him put our of everyone's misery!

Dang! I just got an invitation to see Sinbad -- and I really love Sinbad -- on 29 October at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi but the timing bites. Daddy and I will be away at a Palomino Show during that time, and needless to say, I'd rather be w/ my daddy and comparing my gorgeous Palomino to those nags! Well ... I mean in comparison to my Snickerdoodle they're all nags.

It's hard to believe but on Tuesday it will be one year since Katrina did her destruction which, understandably, those affected are still highly upset about:

Can you blame them? So Tuesday it'll be the one year anniversary of Katrina and on Thursday Ernesto is expected to arrive. This is Ernesto's predicted storm track:

I don't know what those poor people down there are going to do if yet more damage occurs! You know the Beau Rivage Casino Hotel just reopened last week. Harrah's decided to pull out altogether. It was about half built when Katrina made her appearance but after that, Harrah's said "See ya!" It frightens me, and I don't even live near there although we always have tons of rain after there's bad weather like this in the Gulf. I suppose only time will tell what happens w/ Ernesto ... and those to follow.

If you aren't watching these two programs, you are completely out of the loop and you're missing it, kids! Trust me -- jump in and don't miss another episode! You'll thank me later.

It's getting time for my fruit -- I mean, since I've been eating healthier I consume fruit 2 or 3 times per day along w/ lots and lots of water, and it's made me feel so much better it's unbelievable! Tonight I'm indulging in my current addiction, a white flesh nectarine:

I love the white peaches too, and I'm going to be unhappy when they're gone ...

Finally, I found this photo for my great friend Sharmy. Isn't it precious?

He was actually in the news! He loves gloves and snatches every one he can so his mommy hung them and put up a sign.

Later~
